Do you believe in me?

I came from a land so far away. A land unbeknownst to mankind. You might not necessarily be aware of my presence, but I can assure you that my presence is real.

Back in 2008, I met these lovely fellas, Kelvin and Marshella. They did not know this, but I’ve started crafting sparks between them since they first recited their names to each other at the beginning of their first year at University. You see, I like taking my time working my magic and it’s so subtle, you wouldn’t even notice.

Kelvin and Marshella started off with being friends. Good friends. Almost to the point of best friends, if I can say so myself. They hung out with each other, they shared every story to each other, including all the stories about their exes. You know, all the good stuff that best friends do together. However, they thought their story ended there as Kelvin had to move in semester three. Slowly, they drifted apart.

To be honest with you, at that time, I thought, maybe my magic was not strong enough for them. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe I had to let this one go.

It wasn’t until their last relationships broke that I saw another opportunity to swoop back in and rekindle the sparks. Both of their previous relationships were so painful; Marshella developed a thought of not wanting to get married. But, as morbid as it sounds, I think pain brings people closer together.

So, restarting Kelvin and Marshella’s story…

Marshella needed Kelvin’s help for a business she had. She started contacting him and they picked up where they left off.

Flash forward to 2018, because everything in between was not as exciting as what I was about to tell you. Kelvin said something that even made me blush. Kelvin confessed to Marshella that he’s had his eyes on her since University. I was not wrong after all! But because of the deep scar that he was still carrying, he asked Marshella to give him one year for them to develop a relationship. Although confused and unsure about their status, she waited for him regardless.

As cliché as it sounds, her head said no, but her heart said yes. Maybe she was a tad aware of my presence then. When it comes to love, I’d say, always follow your heart. Or maybe, just follow my lead. Within that time frame, Kelvin proved to her how serious he was about being in a relationship. He proved to her that he cared, not only about her, but her entire family as well. Slowly, her wounds were starting to heal and she unlocked the shackles in her heart and opened the door, welcoming love once again.

It did not take long for Kelvin to ask Marshella the most important question of them all, “Will you marry me?”

Did you guess her answer? She said yes!

Kelvin and Marshella. From friends to acquaintances, back to friends, and now, they are soon-to-be husband and wife.

Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t properly introduce myself. My name is Destiny. Do you believe in me?
