“Who Knew I’d be Marrying My Best Friend”

Ever watched a romantic comedy where there’s always this guy who wishes he could date the pretty girl in high school but is always pushed aside to be her best friend instead? But we all know how the story goes; the best friend ends up being the prince who sweeps the girl off her feet! Edward is kinda like the prince in this story, or at least that’s what Florencia thinks about him now.

It started out quite differently for our rom-com couple. They’ve known each other for so long yet it took them half a decade before realizing that they were meant for each other. Even then, it took a dramatic amount of effort for them to be together. If we were watching this movie, we would have realized there were more comedy moments than the romance itself. Here they were, a couple that were so full of emotions yet it was so pleasing to watch their love grow; with a lot of funny and cheesy moments along the way.

Everything was at least going smoothly for their wedding until the pandemic happened. All that was planned for so long and so hard had to be changed…almost three times! But thankfully, Edward and Florencia supported each other well in this journey to matrimony (at least that’s what they confessed when we asked). Despite originally planning to have their wedding in sunny Bali, all that had to be thrown out the window in favor of the family’s well being. In the end, they had to settle in having their matrimony in Jakarta. But I guess the higher power wanted to test the strength of their love so far by giving them more obstacles along the way; as if their ten year relationships were already not full of it! It was definitely challenging moment for both of them, but having known each other so long, they knew they can only face this head on.

Sometimes, it could really be a blessing to get married with that best friend that we met in school; a shoulder to lean on, an ear to confess to; or even someone to kick when Florencia is angry. Edward and Florencia knew that it did not start like any other typical love story that they watch in the movies. But throughout this journey, they have created so many emotions together; so many memorable and funny moments along the way that may have made us onlookers want to fall in love too.
